Sorrelcourt Show Rules

1/ Any stallions must be ridden/handled by a competent person with a minimum age of 14 years.

2/ Full and correct attire must be worn by all competitors and their grooms. All riders must wear correctly fitting headgear to PAS015 (ENS1384 are no longer allowed), or higher, whilst mounted anywhere on the Showground. Junior members are also compelled to wear them when competing in hand. Grooms must wear suitable hats whilst attending in the ring.

3/ No horse /pony under 4 years may be ridden on the showground. Competitors must be a minimum of 3 years of age to ride any horse/pony on the showground. Anyone leading a LR pony must be a minimum of 16 years. Riders in LR/FR classes MUST use a snaffle bridle only.


4/ Ages of horse/pony will be 1st of January in the current year.

5/ Spurs are permitted for Senior riders only (aged over 18 years).

6/ Excessive use of whips is forbidden and will result in disqualification. Whips must be of regulation length.


7/ Fall of a horse/pony in any class requires that the horse/pony is to be led from the ring. The competitor will be eliminated.

8/ Any person participating in any way at this Show who conducts themselves in a manner which may be deemed to bring the show into disrepute, or who is acting in a way which may be abusive to any animal, person, official, judge, steward will be disqualified and escorted off the showground.

9/ No person who has a conviction or pending conviction for animal cruelty will be permitted to compete.

10/ The organisers and judges reserve the right to refuse an entry in the event of any unsoundness such as lameness, coughing or dangerous behaviour ect.

11/ The ruling of Judges/Officials is Final. We reserve the right to substitute judges as necessary.

Any person wishing to make a complaint, must do so on the day of the event, within 30 minutes of the alleged complaint, accompanied by £50 administration fee, which will be refunded if the complaint is upheld.

13All dogs MUST be kept on leads.

14Neither the organisers, Landowners, Committee or Agents of the show accept liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses/ponies, any person, owner, rider, handler, spectator, land or property whatsoever, whether caused by negligence, breach of contract or in any way whatsoever.

15Exhibitors shall take good care of, and shall not cause any damage, or suffer any damage to be done to the site /showground or other property and shall be responsible to pay for damage thereby

(including accidental damage) caused by an act of neglect or in use.

16Trophies are perpetual and MUST be returned in good clean condition, duly engraved where applicable, by the 1st of September of the following year.

17Entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
